24 Hours of Pure Awesome-Sauce

Ever have 24 Hours of Greatness. Where you just feel like WOW!, I am really getting the hang of this eat healthy (isn't it like 80% of your success?) and working out business.

Well these past 24 hours.... (disclaimer: now 35.5 hours because I didn't blog last night) have been just that.

A group of the marathon runners (many of us first timer mary's), met up at the Aquatic Center on Wednesday night for our first cross training session. It started as a quick post in our super secret FaceBook group. I just asked if anyone wanted to get together to swim.... turns out, a lot of us did. Fabulous! We had a great time... got in about 1,200m. Although I probably talked waaaaay too much throughout the sets. Next time, I need to make my set harder and stop the socializing.

On the way home from swimming, I met up with Finn (who did some swim.... but left after his 1,000 m and I stayed for some who got there a little later and more talking). We went all high roller and ate out at Subway. Getting it fresh for dinner, as always.

I swear a shooting start must have passed over my car. Because I called the YMCA to see if by chance, some miracle a seat was open at the 5:15am spin class. You have to reserve them 24 hours in advance and I was calling at 8:30 the night prior. I must have done something right... because there was :)

So I got all excited and danced....

So up at 4:30am I went... and I spun. And it was ah-mazing! We did wall squats in the middle of class. She played awesome tunes. And even incorporated a treadmill challenge at the end. I think she said something into her mic about "run for 2 or so minutes on the tready.... burn about 100 extra cals.... now go". So off a few of us went. 100 extra cals? I guess it's because your heart rate is already up and switching gears so quickly. I'll take it. All I know is I have missed going to spin class and will get back to it with long rides outside on the weekend. I LOVE when I get back with a good instructor.

Work. Work. Work. Work. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.

oh hello. how YOU doing?

During swimming, my running partner Charlotte, and I  mentioned we wanted to do a run. So I suggested a 5 miler. So we went last night. Yep. Double workout day. It was fabulous! 3 mile tempo and 2 miles easy. Great sweat-tastic way to finish my day.

I am going to try to amp up my training through April to see how my body (and mind) react. Do the Duathlon (Feb) and Olympic Tri (May) THEN register for the Halfsie (if I can wait, going to ck when it usually sells out)....

Happy Rest Day Friday, Y'all!

  4. I love days like that! Way to get it done. We also have to reserve spots in classes 24 hours in advance. Here's my theory--a ton of NY resolutionists sign up for them, but then just don't make it to class, thus freeing them up. That class sounded awesome.
