20 miles and Future Races & Places

My drive to work is 13.09 miles one way over gorgeous marshland, one draw bridge, and through the Nation's largest urban historic district.

Tomorrow, we have our longest run of the training then we start to taper. 20 miles. Holy smokes! 20 miles! I am running further than my commute one way. And on November 5th, I am running my FULL COMMUTE!

We are running around a private, gated community that will weave us around golf courses, along the marsh-front, and the streets of gorgeous homes. Good thing the scenery is beautiful, because 20 miles is no joke. I haven't run 20 miles in four years since my last marathon training which resulted in a DNF due to knee issues at mile 15; so I am excited, nervous, yet ready to kill these miles! The training group has been so awesome, I know I am prepared! Also, I am running for the American Cancer Society DetermiNation. So every time my foot hits the pavement and every dollar I raise.... I am kicking cancer's @ss.

On a side note, I am joining the "Run to the Finish" Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge!! Why don't you join me?!? From November 19 - January 6th, let's MOVE and not succumb to holiday foods!

This challenge is great for me, because I have quite a few races coming up during the holidays:

Right after the challenge is over, I am already registered for the Charleston Half Marathon (January 14th)! So excited for a girls weekend! We are staying in the cutest historic hotel. I am debating on the 30 mile fun bike ride on that Sunday. Anyone, doing any of the above races??

QOTD: Anyone running the RnR Savannah? Is this weekend your long run? If so, where are you running? What mileage? Can't wait to see you at the RACE!!!

  1. Final long run for me as well (my second 20 miler). I'll be double looping a greenway here in Charlotte, but for a good cause (Wounded Warriors). I will see you in Savannah and possibly in Charleston for the half!! Enjoy your last long run and taper. You've got this!!
