If you are my friend; like as in Facebook, Twitter, or *gasp* I actually know you in real life... your world may have been a little quieter this week. Have you noticed birds chirping or crickets in my absence?
Well, I was in Panama City Beach for a work conference and enjoying the oceanfront amenities.Right before I went to go enjoy a quick run for National Running Day, I called my mom (as I do every morning- she is my BFF) and something wasn't right in her voice. I immediately knew.
My Grandma, affectionately known as G-Ma, had passed in her sleep. She went with no pain and passed on the same exact date as my Grandpa. She was ready to eat crumbcake and tea with him again. All I will say is- I long for the RTT (see "Running through History" post). I long to run or bike to be with her. I can't wait to have a prayer flag hung for her. She will love that.
I broke my 10 Day No Sugar Challenge I was doing with my DetermiNation friend at http://megan-corey.blogspot.com/. Sorry darling!!! I had to have some crumbcake for G-Ma. And let me tell you, New York bagel shops make the freshest, crumbiest crumbcakes EVER!!
After the funeral, we went back to my parents house outside DC to relax Friday evening. Then yesterday, I did my long run solo as the CREW group ventured for their timed 10-k. I kept a steady pace even though I just ran for time, since I had no Garmin, nor Nike ipod (ipod is still freakin' out worse that Britney with an umbrella). I think I ran about 5.8 or 5.9 based on mapmyrun, but I am never good with the cursor going exactly on the path ;) The weather was amazing at 8am- breezy, 68 or so! Great running weather!
As we speak, I am on the overnight Amtrak making the journey back from Union Station (OMG, those ceilings) to Savannah. Don't ask why I didn't just take my flight I already had lined up for the wedding I went to on Saturday, feel free to call Delta and ask them. #ugh (ps- Congrats Nati.... AMAZING wedding. You treated your guests like Royalty. Oh and yes, for all you readers, her mother wore a Fascinator. Yes... when your parents are British and French, it is appropriate. I tried to steal it, but I left empty handed!!).
Tomorrow's workout, before passing out from physical and emotional exhaustion- 10 mile bike ride.
Peace out, Bean Sprouts :) Off to make the best of this 11 hour train ride!!
